Traffic signs must be written in English
What? you aren’t allowed to make signs in ebonics or spanglish?
Related Stupid Laws, Crazy Laws, and just plain Stupid Laws:
- English language prohibited
- Speak English only in Pahrump, Nevada
- It’s illegal to ride a bike in a cemetery
- It’s illegal to have a neon sign in Naples
- This Bud is not for you

All signs should be written in English. Now, everyone then should learn to read and write in English so we can communicate better. There should be an English test before you take your driver’s license or any professional licensure test.

I’d like to point out that all of the preceding comments contain either grammar or spelling errors. Before you decree that everyone else learn English, you make sure you aren’t one of the people you’re targeting.

i think the reason the law is supposedly stupid is because traffic signs are, for the most part, pictures. Not words.

The main problem with requiring people to pass an English test before getting an ID or professional license is the fact that so many AMERICANS can’t read or write English. I may not have perfect grammar, but just look at a lot of messages that people post. How many of them could really, truly pass a written English test?

Pointless law, since most people in Georgia don’t even bother to read road signs. BTW, cite the code or quote the law. I can’t find it. I find other “dumb laws” sites that mention it, but they don’t seem to know what the code is either.
I do agree that everyone in the U.S. should learn English, starting with those of us who were born and raised here and still barely manage to speak and write anything that could qualify as English.
