I cannot see how you can sit there and call this a stupid law. I have a 5 year old daughter who is so allergic to peanut that the smell will send her to the grave. Maybe you all should do your reasearch to find out how many children are born with peanut alleries a year. Peanunt is a treat for most and life or death to others. Get over your selfish attitudes and start thinking about others. This is not a hard change people. Get over it!!

My son is allergis to peanuts along with 10 other foods. I agree completely with this law and for those who want to do more you should go to the website FAAN.com i believe is the site food allergy and anaphlaxies network. Do the reasearch he pass laws to keep our children safe when they are not in our care.

I am allergic to cinnamon. Does my allergy mean that everywhere must stop serving many things. Considering many everyday products are made with cinnamon. Ketchup, Coke Cola, and just about anything else that says in the ingredients natural flavors. Kacie you need to get over your self. The world doesn’t revovle around your child.

HEY! it IS a stupid law because you’re stupid kids aren’t the only one. Banning sugar because kids get hyper will kill kids who have low blood sugar.. point is you cant please everyone so its up to YOU as the parents to make sure your kids don’t eat shit that will kill them. It’s your own friggin jobs you lazy fucks. this is why children are stupid and stupid shit like this is appeased. because you think the school should do your job for you instead of doing their jobs and teaching them. If little Tommy will die if he eats peanuts, its not the schools job to take them away from all the kids its YOUR job to teach little Tommy not to eat fucking peanuts!

In reference to Kacie calling us as having selfish attitudes. That should be between YOU, THE TEACHERS, AND YOUR CHILD. So what your saying is that since your child is allergic to peanuts everybody else should suffer. Get a damn life and quit trying to destroy everybody else. Other kids enjoy peanutbutter but they have to suffer because of YOU!!! The problem as I see it is that YOU don’t know how to BE a PARENT.

Most schools are either peanut butter free or have designated areas where children can sit and eat peanut butter at lunch. But with the rate that allergies are getting so severe and so many children are allergic it is the SAFE way to go. Most schools are latex free due to allergies too for the same reason. It has nothing to do with parenting, it has everything to do with major MEDICAL NECESSITY!!!! (and for those of you who are complaining since PB&J is a cheap lunch, bologna is pretty cheap too.

I think its absolutely ridiculous that there is a peanut ban is schools.
The only kind of sandwich my child will eat is Peanut butter.Unfortunately i have to WORK therefore my child cannot come home for lunch.I suppose since your child is allergic,my child has to starve? DON’T THINK SO.! Maybe at lunch time they should put all the “short bus” kids in a separate room to eat lunch.:D

So pushing away everyone’s rights
for one kid is selfish, but pausing everything for you is not selfish, MAKES PERFECT SENSE.

Excuse me… don’t go blaming those with allergies for making these laws. I’d instead look to yourselves to blame… if it were not for your ignorant and self righteous actions like what I’ve seen posted here laws like this would not be needed.
You seem to feel that everything is “not your problem” and bedamned about whether your precious child’s treat can kill their friends… never thought of that one either, did you? Never even once thought that the child your precious is seated near might be their best friend, and now they’ve just sent that friend into death? But no… it won’t happen to your child, so why should you care?
Did it also not occur to you compassionless people that simply SMELLING those peanut butter sandwiches can cause a major reaction and even kill those with allergies? They don’t even have to be in the same room either!
It is YOUR selfish and uncaring thinking that brought the law into effect, NOT the parents or the children with allergies. I’d suggest you ignorant folks with the “holier than thou” attitudes get off your own high horses and realize there is a “real” world out there that doesn’t revolve around you or your precious peanut eating killers.

The kid is so allergic that even the smell of peanut butter can kill her. What is the kid going to do if the person two chairs down had a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast and unmeaningly breathes just right so the kid gets a whiff. Or a child comes to school with peanut butter on their hands and wipes their hand where the kid eventually will wipe her hand. What are the schools going to say? They can’t control what a child eats at home. If schools keep going like this eventually no meal will be offered, this kid will be allergic to this item and another kid to that item. We can’t tailor the menu so that nothing anybody is allergic to is served. They should offer other choices so the student doesn’t eat what they are allergic to, not do away with them completely. If the school needs to they should set up an allergy room so kids with allergies can go and eat their lunch safely and the majority doesn’t have to suffer with out.

What? I went there as a kid… if you didnt pay your lunch money then you had to eat a penut butter sandwich. and in the sack lunches, they have peanut butter and honey sandwiches. if it’s illeagal then why the hell would they put the peanutbutter sandwiches in the sack lunches and give the kids peanut butters sandwiches when they dont pay there lunch money?

I cannot believe the IGNORANT, SELFISH, UNEDUCATED PEOPLE IN THIS POST. My 4yr old son just had a a severe reaction to treenuts that we didn’t know he was allergic to. It required calling 911 and shots to help him breath. My child has a right to an education and if your child ate nuts at school and touched something my child could DIE!! DIE!! Don’t you get it DIE!! What happens if your or your child eats a nut or peanut butter sandwish… NOTHING! DEATH!!DONT YOU GET IT DEATH. YOU could KILL my child. It will not kill you to not eat pb and J or nuts at school.

Peanut allergies are very serious, and I don’t think it’s any great hardship to let your little one go without a pb&j during the school day.
You have to remember, that a no sharing policy or dedicated tables aren’t enough to protect some kids, especially young kids.
Kids don’t have to eat it to have an allergic reaction. Their classmates eat pb and j and don’t wash hands at all or very well. They all use the same scissors, crayons, glue, toys, playdoh, etc.
That is all it takes to set of a potentially fatal reaction in a child who is too young to administer their own epinephrine.
As much as parents and the school districs try to educate teachers on medical emergencies, I will never feel comfortable that the teacher will see the reaction in time and remember what to do.

May GOD bless all of you that are so selfish. If your child was allergic to anything so much that they could not come near or smell or eat I would never expect your child to go to school and sit next to mine that was not allergic. God knows your heart. And for someone to call them retarded or short bus kids, may god bless you all and open your eyes and allow you to be absolutely grateful for what you have. God has a plan for us all? Do you know yours? I wouldnt start callin names just yet.

Jennifer, I agree that this was NOT an issue when I was coming up. But you are a complete and utterly stupid human being thinking its a mother’s fault for the child being allergic to foods. My son has allergies but I didn’t do anything wrong while carring him, hell, I don’t even drink or smoke and never have. You really should seek counseling.

How did we go from laws to infantile behavior? There’s plenty of modifications we can make in life with common sense. It doesn’t mean there needs to be a law about it. Example, I use the toilet when I need to use the restroom. I see no need for a law telling me not to do it in public.

Pffffft!
Same thing in my school, but I just eat my PB sandwiches anyway. If somebody bitches, I fuck ‘em with verbal reasoning.
I’m not going to refrain from eating something so ONE person will not get a rash from nuts. That’s just fucked up.
“Don’t be selfish, they have a problem” – Don’t be selfish, I want to have my PB sandwich!
If my school had over….I dunno, 80 kids with a nut allergy, sure, I’d stop bringing ‘em in. But I sure as hell wont stop eating for one John Doe.
For the times I get yelled at for eating ‘em, I say “Oh, I can’t have MY sandwich which I bought, made and brought here? Well, that’ll be a tenner, gas money, ingredients and enough to buy a few sandwiches will do.”
–My “Teachers” leave me the hell alone after those two lines.
