Strickly no dancing in Purdy, Missouri
The “How to dance like a white guy” tutorial (as seen on YouTube)Â most likely originated in this town and is the reason this law exists.

Im curious where in the statue does it say this? I agree its dumb, but if i wanted to verify its law where can I go to see if this isnt a stupid site making things up?

This truly is a law in Purdy. The school has to go it of town to have dances although no one gets in trouble for it anymore.

Actually, I don’t think it is a law or city ordinance. However, the Purdy School District does have a policy forbidding dancing without permission from the Board of Education. The town of Purdy is primarily Fundamentalist Christians and believes dancing to be sinful. Several students and parents sued the district, citing seperation of church and state, but lost in an appeal to the US Supreme Court.

I am from PURDY and everyone I knew was glad to get out and go somewhere else for prom. It was much more fun having things to do afterwards in Branson, where we always had it! We grew up knowing we couldnt dance in school so it wasn’t any big deal to anyone.
