I actually live in Illinois and you are able to conceal a handgun at the age of 21 but before then you can only have a shotgun along with that before you are able to recieve any kind of guns you need a permit stating you have no felonies or anything like that on your record.

actually there are no ccwp in IL, to have a concealed weapon you must be either a mayor, alderman, president, trustee, marshal, deputy marshal or policeman and still have to pass a training course. IL actually has the strictest gun laws of any state in the US (high opinion by those outside of IL that that is why crime is so bad there) if youd like to see more about the IL concealed weapon permit you can read here:
