an object or weapon for throwing, hurling, or shooting, as a stone, bullet, or arrow.
Missile (not missle) refers to an object that can be thrown. Its current connotation–a rocket powered weapon–is fairly recent. Maybe it should be called “Idiots who can’t spell.”
