dear dave and rich it is american to speak spanish and english dave you should know that you live in “olde mexico” and by the way puerto rican spanish is american since 1889. and. and must i remind you navada is a spanish word. Navada is not even a border state , get over it.

was the sign not in english or perhaps the sign was in spanish.

This is America. We can not be divided with a million languages. This #$#@ with billboards in Spanish, signs in banks, etc. NEEDS TO GO!!!
You do a diservice to someone not to teach them and have them speak the language of the country WHICH IS ENGLISH! WHY IS IT PUNCH ONE FOR ENGLISH, 2 FOR SPANISH? NO.NO.NO. THIS HAS TO GO AS WELL!! WHY NOT PUSH 3 FOR GERMAN, 4 FOR FRENCH, 5 FOR CHINESE, ETC. ETC… THIS IS PURE#$%$#!! IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE HERE IN AMERICA GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM. MY GRANDPARENTS DROPPED THEIR LANGUAGE, SWEATED IT IN ELIS ISLAND AND COULD NOT HAVE ANY DISEASE WHEN THEY CAME HERE OR ANY CRIMES!!! ILLEGALS WHO SPEAK SPANISH NEED TO GO LIKE YESTERDAY!!! THERE IS ENOUGH UNEMPLOYMENT WITHOUT THEM AND ENOUGH CRIME…. STOP DIVIDING THIS COUNTRY WITH YOUR LANGUAGE!

When my husband and I went to live in Germany during his tour in the Army, we had to take head start classes and learn their language. We were told,”you are a visitor in their country and you’ll speak their language”. That should apply to everyone who visits or lives in ours! I had to rely on little children to communicate in the classroom for their parents. Live here, learn it! Our road signs should NOT have a foreign language on them either, if you can’t speak it, you sure as hell can’t read it…

I’m from Las Vegas and this was a big news story when it was being voted on. It isn’t that it’s necessarily illegal to speak other languages, but English is the official language of Pahrump.
